BIOGRAPHY
CRYSTAL THOMAS & THE FLOWERS OF EVIL
“An heiress to a tradition of dramatic, confessional music that explores
the dark side of life and love. She is backed by what really is an
all-star Melbourne band, the Baudelaire -quotin’ Flowers Of Evil. Her
voice is smoky and sensual, wrapping itself around her lyrics and (Matt)
Green’s guitar figures like a purring cat. Her stage presence is arresting
as her voice” - Tom Hawking, Editor Inpress
2010 - Europe
Crystal has just returned from a holiday travelling through Europe where
she played in Barcelona at The Electric Bar & Madrid at The
Wurlitzer Bar with guitarist Edith Crash & supported by Mae Kurtz.
Crystal also played in London at The Half Moon.
Crystal received a great live review from the show she played in Madrid
and did an interview for Efe Eme music magazine in Spain as well as a one
hour live in the studio radio interview and performance on Spain's
national radio (radio 3, Spain’s equivalent of Triple J)
Crystal plans to release her 2nd studio album here in Australia and then
return to Europe for a full album launch tour.
2009 - Forthcoming (2nd) studio album
Crystal Thomas & The Flowers Of Evil finished recording their SECOND
STUDIO ALBUM ‘La Tormenta’ in August 2009. This album has at times an
intense, raw, almost predatory sexual aggression, a dark disco pulse and a
rock n roll swagger...
The aim with this album is to capture an immediate and unhinged sound and
mood in contrast to our debut album's lush, sensual production & poetic
brooding stories...
The album was written in a fevered 5 weeks of creative lock-ins, tequila,
freshly shucked oysters... and cathartic late night co-writing sessions
with Spencer P Jones, Matt Walker, Tim McCormack & Matt Green.
The second studio album was recorded at Matt Walker's 8 Track shack with
Matt Walker & Spencer P Jones co-producing the recording.
Single release 'La Tormenta' from (forthcoming) 2nd studio album;
The single 'La Tormenta' from the forthcoming album was released on
November 20th 2009 & is available to purchase through
Music Plug online and Itunes. The album is due to be released late
2010.
Crystal Thomas & The Flowers Of Evil received a 'Vic Rocks' ( Victoria
Arts Council) grant to record the album.
2008 - Debut studio album;
The Flowers Of Evil released their debut album in October 2008 on
Stovepipe Records, distributed through MGM. It is also available to
download through
Musicplug & Itunes.
The Flowers Of Evil’s self – titled, debut album was recorded in Matt
Walker’s studio - the 8 Track Shack - recording their debut album, with
Matt at the helm as mentor and producer. The album also features guest
